Great article. A key factor in the success of HTML5/JavaScript apps will be better device hardware. Resources are scarce enough on a phone that even utility apps can struggle without low the level code only available to native developers.

I agree with the conclusion. Making money in apps is tough as it is, so cutting out the app store take means more for the developer. With the size of the app stores being what they are, their value seems rather thin. There's a dependency of course on the browsers supporting a single HTML5 standard. Not HTML5 plus special Microsoft enhancements. Been there, done that, don't want to do it again. Unifying not just mobile platforms but also with desktops, TVs, etc would be huge.

Backlinks may very well become a valuable asset as well as assist with off page search engine optimisation. Have you ever detected back links result in a harmful outcome on rankings? And do you know if there is a means to find when PPC is better than natural rankings? I myself participate in dozens online businesses and as a matter of fact manage a backlink building service. Still, I at times see it useful to use Adwords to natural link building.

Kelly - thanks for the nice comments. feel free to quote me as needed as long as you give attribution. Please do not, however, take chunks and use them for another site. I wouldn't mind except that then there is a possibility of getting hit by the duplicate content filters.

Hi, Sir,
Thank you for your helpful information on the website loading time.
Indeed, the loading time of website is very important now for both user-friendly aspect and Google PR value.
I have been endeavoring in SEO on my website recently, so as to promote my business of oil paintings. I would appreciate very much if you can provide some suggestion for me to improve the loading time of my website.
Thank you & Best regards,
Kevin from China.

Thank you. My Twitter name (as you might guess from this post) is onlinematters (consistent branding helps).

I have thought about video - just haven't gotten there yet. Haven't quite figured out how best to combine the formats. They have different purposes and audiences and not sure how best to handle the video as an addition to the writing, versus being repetitive.
